Brazil Travel Guide
The fifth largest country in the world and South America's most populous nation, Brazil is a joyous mix of samba, sand, sun and surprises. The only Portuguese speaking nation of the continent, Brazil has adopted its on path and is unique in this world. With cities that are bursting at the seems, extreme poverty living next to extreme wealth, a laid back attitude and some excellent parties, Brazil is an exciting destination for a traveler.
What to do
When you close your eyes and picture Brazil you probably see the beaches and you see Rio de Janeiro. A trip to the country would not be complete without a visit to the beach where the bikinis are small and the fun is enormous. You will also want to spend time in Rio, which is a hectic place dressed up in laid back clothing. The city literally changes from luxury to slum in a blink of the eye. It is not always the friendliest place for the tourist, but it is also never, ever boring.
As you move further inland you find less people and more incredible scenery. The Amazon Rainforest is one of the great wonders of the world even as humankind continues to encroach upon it. Further south are the mountains and a climate that is more agreeable to those who don't like heat and humidity. The southern part of the country is also the wealthiest.
Brazil is not a country without its problems. The crime rate is high, especially in the larger cities. This can extend to tourists so as always you are best served using common sense while trying to blend in with the locals.
