• You can afford and don't care if you pay medical and legal expenses out-of-pocket, whether they're in rupees or pounds Sterling.
• The policy you have at home covers you abroad (which isn't usually the case, but sometimes it happens. Make sure you find out).
• You're invincible.
• You're not a big risk-taker, and don't do things or go to places where anything could happen to you. When you're that safe, who needs insurance?
• You bought it last time, nothing happened, why waste the cash again?
• Your budget is stretched so thin that there's just no way you can afford it.
• If someone nicks the shirt off your back, good – you can get another for 10 cents, and that one really stank anyway.
