Continental Drift
By Adam Carter

Having crossed the continents of Africa, Europe and Asia, I am setting out on another journey, from the southern tip of South America to the northern coast of Brazil. But unlike past trips, I have a timetable, for I must reach his destination by March 1st, the start of Carnival. With roughly 6,000 miles to cover, I must cover on average 100 miles a day, or 4 mph at a steady pace.

Committed to completing the trip by land, I will keep you updated with the quirks of my continental drift, as well as a catalogue of statistics, such as the number of miles I have covered, beds I have slept in, days in jail, etc....I hope you enjoy the ride.

Latest Update
11: DJ's, Devotion and a Riotous Religious Revival
Adam found himself immersed in a chaotic mix of sweat, drugs, tattoos, and pounding electronic music. Some would call this massive assembly a party, but to those in attendance it was more of an annual pilgrimage.

Catch Up On The Journey
10: Sex and the City, Recife Style
After all the hype, Adam was eager to see if there was any truth to the talk about Recife's pulsing nightlife.

9: Bombs and Beats on a Brazilian Beach
Is it morbid to revel in the wake of war? While Adam's government was dropping bombs, he was dropping tunes and shedding stereotypes in the name of tolerance and love.

8: Silver Heaven, Black Hell
Does the Devil exist? Adam finds the answer to this age-old question within the choking tunnels of the Potosi silver mine in Bolivia.

7: Paying for Carnaval
Sitting on a Brazilian beach, Adam believes he deserves the pleasures of Carnaval, after enduring the bus journey that got him there.

6: Salty Sacredness
Adam ponders the indomitable human spirit and asks what is sacred as he wanders the streets of a mining ghost town in northern Chile.

5: Farewell Argentina
It's February already and Adam has fallen behind schedule. It's not his fault though - all the blame lies with Argentina.

4: Economic Bandit
Unlike many travelers, Adam does not feel ashamed to admit he hs come to Argentina due to its sudden affordability. He is an ecomonic bandit.

3: Hurry Up and Wait
Adam is a true time-killer; a layover lover. He shares his ideas to make the most of all-too-common delays of the transport variety.

2: Enraged Elements
Adam battles the elements to reach the summit of a mountain in the Patagonian Andes.

1: The End of the World
Where better to spend the end of the year than at the End of the World. Adam gave up the warmth of Brazilian beaches for the Antarctic chill of Ushuaia, Argentina.
