Tim and Mari's World Tour
By The Global Travellers

This is the beginning of a one year backpacking journey for two Canadians who have been recently married. Tim Kingshott and Mari Farquharson, who have been working in Natural Resources (Fisheries, Forestry, Geology etc.), are heading from Toronto, Ontario to Toronto, Ontario. En Route we will visit New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, South-East Asia, Indonesia, Nepal, India, Turkey, and Mediterranean Europe.

March 3rd: Cambodia
Crossing the border, a visit to Angkor Wat and the horror of the Killing Fields.

February 20th - March 2nd: Thailand
Climbing and scuba diving in Thailand.

February 11-20th: Peninsular Malaysia
Travelling north of 1° N Latitude through Malaysia including Melacca and Kuala Lumpur.

February 3rd: Singapore
Celebrations for the year of the dragon and Singapore's interesting legal system.

January 30th: Leaving Oz
The Oz part of the trip is nearly over, but Tim will be cracking open a VB on his birthday on Feb 1st.

January 26th: From Melbourne with Love
Wine tasting in the Barossa Valley, the Great Ocean Road, lots of koalas and a bloody big spider!

January 15th: The Outback
The beauty of the Olgas and Uluru is incredible. It is easy to see why the Aboriginal people have always held these sites as sacred places.

January 1st, 2000: Great Barrier Reef
An amazing diving trip on the Great Barrier Reef, including two night dives. And heralding the Millennium via short wave radio.

December 28th: Queensland Coast
A run in with the local cops puts an end to free camping. Wildlife spotting on Fraser Island and Bundaberg.

Oz Update
The new car is working out well and the weather is improving. Tim and Mari try their luck surfing.

Sydney, Australia
Hostel prices for the Millennium are insane. The solution? Buy an '83 Falcon station wagon and sleep in the back.

November 28th: The South Island
After some excellent hiking through Abel Tasman and Mt Cook National Parks, a dangerous situation requires a rescue.

Lime Green Hell
Wrestling with their bus company, Tim and Mari take time to hike Tongarriro Mountain - in the pouring rain.

October 31st: Auckland, New Zealand
New Zealand security takes exception to Canadian soil, but eventually, Tim and Mari get away to the Bay of Islands region.

October 23rd: Toronto, Canada
The stress of packing for a 12 month RTW trip is eventually resolved, but this is going to be a very interesting honeymoon.
