Rob and Sophie

Intro
In this great age of the backpack, it shouldn't be too surprising
that more and more people are encountering potential life partners
while on their OE (overseas experience). Being friends of friends
is weird enough, but falling for a bloke from the other side of
the planet takes the biscuit! And when the visa runs out, what
next? No worries - I've been waiting to go Down Under so I can
enjoy some of that sun I keep hearing about...and unless something
drastic happens, this trip could last a little bit longer than
originally expected. Darn :)
I'm a web designer and Rob's an engineer, and we've been together
for just over a year. Neither of us has travelled with another
person for more than a short while before, let alone the other
half, which could bring challenges in itself. Both of us have
seen a fair bit of the world in our own way though: I've seen
most of Europe, bused across the US, and spent a summer working
in Kenya, while Rob's been backpacking in Australia and Britain
for the last few years. We both have the same idea for this trip
though: get out there and have a ball!
The plan changes on a regular basis, and right now it's to enjoy
our stopovers in LA and Fiji, spend a few months in Sydney gathering
cash (plus the odd weekend adventure), followed by a liberal helping
of chasing the Aussie horizon. It's a massive country, and after
months of saving and selling half my worldly belongings I'm itching
to see as much as possible. Who knows what could happen, or when
we'll see Blighty again? Maybe we'll just find a cosy corner of
the world, buy a hostel and bring up part-Kiwi, part-Frog, part-English
rugby players...
