The Argostoli vacation rentals are actually just outside the town of Argostoli, about five kilometers away to be exact. The listings here are all in one apartment building, they're just different sizes of apartments so you can pick the one that suits your needs best. One great perk is that with an apartment in a larger building you'll automatically have access to some great amenities, including a swimming pool and barbecue area. The apartments are all family-friendly, too, which is good news if you've got the kids along.
Argostoli is Kefalonia's main town, and was unfortunately severely damaged by both World War II bombs and then an earthquake - so while it's no longer the most beautiful town in the islands, it's nice to be so close by because you'll be able to pick up whatever you need in town and then head back to your vacation rental in Argostoli (well, just outside) to escape! There is an interesting museum or two in the town, including one that shows what the area was like before the war and the earthquake.
Although it might not be the most picturesque town, Argostoli is home to some nice shopping areas and good restaurants. Unfortunately, public transportation isn't very good, so you'll need to have your own car, scooter or even a bicycle if you want to get around easily. You can also use your vacation rental in Argostoli as a good home base from which to explore the rest of the island of Kefalonia or other nearby islands.
