Venice is easily one of the world's most romantic cities, but it's not going to feel romantic to the people who just spend a day or even two there. No, you've really got to spend more time in this glorious city to really feel its romantic pull. And there's no better way to do that than with a Venice vacation rental.
The Venice vacation rentals are cozy or luxurious apartments in the city's beautiful buildings - they're scattered all over the city, so you might be a few steps from a major tourist attraction or tucked into a quiet corner of a primarily residential (and un-touristy!) district. Which area you choose depends entirely on which of those experienced you would prefer. Either way, the good news is that Venice (Venezia to the locals) is small enough that you'll be able to walk nearly anywhere in the city from your vacation apartment - or take a water taxi or gondola if you like.
While in Venice, don't miss the Basilica di San Marco and the beautiful piazza at its front - the Piazza San Marco. You'll find them both flooded with tourists, but they're both worth seeing no matter what. And once you've checked those off your list, you can wander freely and experience the best "sight" in Venice - the city itself. Getting lost in the maze of islands and bridges is inevitable, and it's the best possible way to really enjoy the romantic side of the city. You'll always be able to find your way back to your vacation rental in Venice by locating one of the landmarks - there are signs everywhere directing you to them, so they're not hard to find.
You can also use your vacation rental in Venice to make day-trips to the surrounding islands in the lagoon, like Murano, Burano and Torcello, and cities further afield. Destinations like Verona (where Shakespeare set his famous play, "Romeo & Juliet," and home of an excellent summer opera series) and Ravenna (where you'll find the best Byzantine mosaics in the Western world) are easy day trips from Venice on the train.
There currently are no available vacation rentals in Venezia. You might consider looking through the vacation rentals in Italy or starting from the home page of vacation rentals. Sorry for the hassle.
