You'll always be able to find your way back to your vacation rental in Venice by locating one of the landmarks - there are signs everywhere directing you to them, so they're not hard to find.

You can also use your vacation rental in Venice to make day-trips to the surrounding islands in the lagoon, like Murano, Burano and Torcello, and cities further afield. Destinations like Verona (where Shakespeare set his famous play, "Romeo & Juliet," and home of an excellent summer opera series) and Ravenna (where you'll find the best Byzantine mosaics in the Western world) are easy day trips from Venice on the train.
