Marrakech: Off the Beaten Path
Despite accidentally walking outside of the city, Michele wasn’t worried. In fact it was kind of soothing to be lost again, sure to find some lonely, forgotten place.

Marrakech: Bath Time
After a long day wandering the souqs, Michele decided to relax with a traditional Moroccan bath. Her attendant, or keeper, was a gray haired woman in a big pair of worn black undies, plastic shoes and nothing else.

Marrakech: Adventures in Souq Land
Stepping out of the sun into the perpetual twilight of the souq, Michele found another entire city. For the first time since getting off the plane she felt happily anonymous.

Arriving in Marrakech, Michele gets help from locals to find the cheap hotel district. When all hotels are full, however, she has to put her faith in a local who offered to take her to a “friend’s” guest house.

Maybe Michele imagined it, but she could have sworn she could smell spices, the scent of desert and salt of the sea. She wavered between enchantment with her new surroundings and a growing need to get the hell out of the friggin’ airport parking lot.
