I have a friend who invited me, along with others, to go to Oktoberfest and see some of Europe along the way. I decided that this would be a good opportunity for me to practise some of the languages that I had learnt, so I saved up some cash and went along on our 'Bastards-R-Us' tour of Central Europe.

We all decided to meet in Frankfurt airport on 19th September, so I planned my itinerary around this date. I got a good price on a flight through www.travel.com.au which included a free side trip in Europe. I decided to go to Vilnius, because I didn't need a visa, the exchange rate was good and I could practise my Russian there.

I spent a week in Vilnius and then met up with my friends in Frankfurt, where we hired a car and drove through Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. We ditched the car in Vienna and travelled by train through Czech Republic and Poland ending up in Berlin. From there, we hired another car and drove across Germany back to Frankfurt, where we split up. The rest of the guys went to the UK and I caught my flight back home to Australia.

My interests are travelling, languages and culture, 20th century history and motorcycling. I am fluent in English, German and I have a smattering of Russian, Lithuanian, Polish, Czech, Italian and Japanese.

My boots on this trip are 'Great Lakes' hiking boots that I bought in Las Vegas. They are a great all rounder and definitely $50 well spent.

Highlights of my trip include the Oktoberfest, the Ducati factory and museum in Bologna, the Lippazaner Museum in Vienna and Berlin.
