Tips for Visiting

Off-the-Beaten-Path: Nabran, Baku, Small villages

Health Issues: Malaria can be found in the summer in the southern areas. Cases have been reported in the suburbs of the capital, Baku. Numerous terrorist bombings have occurred in the country in the past few years, especially along the Armanian border.

When to go: Avoid the winter season, as it is chilly and rainy. Also, the Muslim holy month of Ramadan occurs during this time, and may not be the best time for non-Muslims to visit.

Getting Around: Private taxis are taken by most visitors in Baku as roads are in poor condition. Buses are the best way to get from city to city.

Good to know: Avoid travel near the Armenian border as terror attacks tend to occur in this region.
