Looking For Adventure

This past month has been so much fun. We’ve read a bunch of new blogs, made many new Twitter friends, and met a ton of amazing new people! We love you all and have had so much fun working with you for the last 30 days.

For the last week (plus 2 days) of the 30 Days of Indie Travel Art Project, we asked you all to answer a final round of questions. And again, you all sent us amazing answers!

Day 22: Write a 24 hour guide to your hometown (or town you live in now).

We got guides to a bunch of different places that, if we didn’t want to visit before, we definitely do now!

@cselkie sent us on a tour of Venice Beach that involves more than just the beach part. (I had no idea Venice had canals!)
@serenity007 tells us, “When I tell people I grew up in Sacramento, they usually say, “I drove through there once. Straight through.” Next time, I suggest you stop.” (We will next time! We promise!)
@PudgysHuman tours us around the other end of California in her guide to San Diego – one which involves lizards and brunch. Because mimosas.
@anddontblink tours us around Morgantown, West Virgina. I’m going to stop there just to take my own autumn ride on that Personal Rapid Transit. It looks fun!
@FreshAirTravel tells us about her city, Key West Florida – the tip of the USA. Which looks gorgeous! (And also, this is a great post! I can’t believe it is your first one!)
@goingnomadic gives us a full day (plus a little more) to her city, Las Vegas, Nevada. And none of her guide involves The Strip. We didn’t know there was so much to do in Vegas besides gamble.
Heading outside of the USA, @DanushiK tells us, “Cuddle a koala, feed a kangaroo, pet a wombat. That’s all possible” in Western Sydney. I want to pet a koala!
And @AradInfo gives us a virtual walking tour (with lots of photos) about their hometown – Arad, Romainia (and now I know where the name is from).

Day 23: What is the best road trip you’ve ever been on?

@MasterFrolicker tells us about her Italy to Morocco road trip (that sounds awesome!) and gives us links to a bunch of more posts about it (time to go do some reading).

and @truebluegin leads into her story with, “Four adults, eight juveniles and two little white dogs of indeterminate poodle lineage set out on a road trip across the country for what would become the most memorable experience of our young lives.” (How can we not dive into this story after an opener like that?!?)
@suzie_somewhere’s favourite road trip was her trip to Grand Basin, down the loneliest road in America, Highway 50. (Crossing the USA on Highway 50 is one of my road trip goals!).

Day 24: Tell us a story (real or fake) set around the worst accomodations you’ve ever stayed in.

We got some crazy stories and tweets about this. Some almost too vile to believe they are true.

@BurkhartAndrea told us a hilariously awful story about their stay at ““The Floral Breeze”” in Bagan, Burma (it was anything but), but goes on to mention the good stuff about the city, along with the bad of their odoriferous hotel room.
@pudgyhumans writes, “Blood and vomit stains on the tile floor in the kitchenette glare at them as they enter the threshold.” Yes, this is the start to a good story.
@4WornPassports tells us a hilarious story titled, “Cockroaches in Paradise“. (We are sorry to laugh at you, but we love this story).
@thadandlaura told us about a Hostel Fail in Singapore
and @Filipachatillon tells of us a not-so-nice place she stayed at in Croatia.

Day 26: What is your idea of the perfect trip?

We got a lot of great responses for this.

And speaking of dreaming big, @serenity007 said, “If money was no object, I would definitely book a Virgin Galactic voyage just to see what it’s all about 🙂” then tweeted us a photo of this badass tattoo:

@4WornPassports scored a great, last-minute hostel in Sydney for New Years Eve.
@loismiddleton asked us if a birthday is a holiday (YES!) and told us about surprising her son with a birthday trip to Amsterdam!

Day 29: Design the perfect hostel.

We got super creative (and sometimes fantastical but hey, this is the PERFECT hostel, right?!) designs, full of photos and examples.

@PudgysHuman wants to buy, and revamp an abandoned former hotel in San Diego (we will totally come stay there if you do).
@aradinfo wants to create a hostel on one of “those really scenic villages perched on cliffs overlooking a sea” and posts a bunch of photos of what it will look like.
@cselkie gave us a Pinterest board of perfect hostel ideas (we love the link to the Pinterest board!0
