Youth Passes 12-27
If you're between 12 and 27, you save 25-30% off adult prices. A 7-day flexi youth pass is €195 (~$215 USD). A 15-day consecutive is €315 (~$345 USD). A 1-month unlimited is €720 (~$790 USD). The discount applies to all pass types, both flexi and consecutive.
To qualify, you just need to be 12-27 when you buy the pass. No student card required, no proof. Your birthday doesn't matter for that specific pass; it's locked in at purchase. So if you're 27 now and buy a pass, you get the 27-year-old price forever, even if you use it when you're 28.
Senior Passes 60+
Seniors (60 and older) get a 10-15% discount. A 7-day flexi senior pass is €245 (~$270 USD). A 15-day consecutive is €360 (~$395 USD). Same deal as youth: age locked at purchase, no proof needed.
The discount isn't huge, but it adds up on longer passes. A 1-month senior pass is €1020 (~$1120 USD), vs €1200 (~$1320 USD) for adults. That's $200 off a month-long trip, worth booking early to lock in the rate.
Kids Travel Free Under 11
Up to two children under 11 per paying adult travel free on a Eurail Pass. They don't need their own pass; they ride with the adult. But here's the catch: each kid needs to be registered in the Eurail app, and some operators ask to see them to confirm they're yours (especially on long journeys or night trains).
Once the kids hit 11, they need their own youth pass. That's the hard cutoff. So if you have a 10-year-old and an 11-year-old, the 11-year-old needs a youth pass; the 10-year-old doesn't. Plan accordingly if you're traveling across their birthday.
Group & Family Savings
Two or more adults traveling together get a 10% 'Saver' discount. So instead of €285 (~$315 USD) for a 7-day flexi, a group of two pays €255 (~$280 USD) each. That's €30 (~$35 USD) saved per person. It adds up fast on longer passes.
Family combos: one adult + two free kids under 11. If you add a second adult, you get the group discount on both. Example: two adults + two kids. The kids are free; both adults get 10% off. Total savings: roughly €60 (~$66 USD) for a week-long pass.
The Plus Pass and Reservation Credits
Brand new for 2026, still in beta. The Plus Pass bundles your Eurail Pass with a credit kit for reservations. Instead of paying €15-30 per reservation, you buy €150-200 in credits upfront and deduct from them. This solves the 'I forgot reservations would cost €100 extra' problem.
Pricing is still being tested, but expect the Plus Pass to cost 20-30% more than a standard pass (so a €285 pass becomes €350-370). If you book 6+ reservations (typical for a 2-week trip), the credits pay for themselves. It's a convenience play; not a savings play unless you're booking a ton of trains.
Seasonal Deals and Promos
Spring launch (March-April): Eurail usually drops introductory pricing for the new season. Discounts of 10-15% are common. Fall flash sales (September-October): minor discounts, but shoulder season is already cheap. Black Friday (November): 10-15% off is standard. Christmas/New Year promos: rare, but sometimes a 5% bundle discount for multi-month passes.
Real talk: the biggest savings come from traveling off-season (January-March, October-November). A youth pass in January costs the same as a youth pass in July, but accommodation, food, and attractions are 30-50% cheaper. Forget the promos; travel in the shoulder season.
Stacking Savings
How it works: youth discount + group discount. Two youth travelers (12-27) + saver group. They each get youth pricing and the group discount. A 7-day flexi that's €285 for adults becomes €195 for youth, then another 10% off for group = €175 each. That's €110 (~$120 USD) off per person.
Where to buy: always buy from Eurail.com (US-based official site) for the best prices and hassle-free delivery. Trainline, Viator, and other third parties sometimes claim discounts, but it's a mirage. You're paying the same Eurail price, plus their commission. Bypass the middleman; buy direct.
FAQ
Nope. Age is locked in at purchase. No ID check required. This is why buying early and storing your purchase confirmation is crucial.
Two or more adults get 10% off (Saver Pass). Kids under 11 travel free (max 2 per adult). If you're a solo adult + kids, no group discount, but the kids are free.
Probably not. You'll book maybe 2-3 reservations; the Plus credits are overkill. For 2+ weeks, it's worth the extra cost.
No. Discounts apply at purchase. If you bought as an individual and later join a group, you can't get a refund and rebuy. Think before you buy.
No. Eurail doesn't integrate with airlines. You get Eurail loyalty points if you buy multiple passes, but it's a separate system.
Once you buy, you own that price. Prices don't go up or down for your specific pass. You can't 'wait for a sale' after purchase; your price is fixed.
