To many people, the words "round the world travel" tend to conjure up images of wandering backpackers who hang out in India or Southeast Asia and try as hard as they can to avoid what the rest of us call "real life." And while some RTW travelers may aspire to that description, that is by no means the only kind of person who buys what's known as a round-the-world plane ticket.
Some RTW tickets actually require that you continue in one direction all the way around the planet, making them more suited to people who are those long-term vagabond travelers. But other RTW tickets are essentially just multi-stop itineraries - so they're suited to anyone who's visiting more than one or two places in one trip and wants to fly between those places. In turn, that means that getting a round the world business class ticket isn't a strange idea at all.
Getting a round the world business class ticket is a great option for business travelers who are visiting several clients, or making several sales calls in a row, or checking out different parts of their production line. But as we all know,
business class isn't just for business travelers. If your long-term trip is a honeymoon, anniversary trip, or that one last hurrah before you settle down and start a family, then going round the world business class is just the kind of luxury that you'll reminisce about for the rest of your lives.
Certainly, traveling round the world business class costs more than flying coach - you wouldn't expect it to be otherwise. The cost of a regular round-trip ticket in business class can be 5+ times the cost of an economy class ticket. When you're talking about RTW tickets, on the other hand, the cost of going round the world business class is usually only double the cost of coach. So if you can afford the splurge, it's a pretty great deal.
One perk that comes with flying round the world business class that you might not have thought of is that business class passengers typically get to check bags (or more bags than in coach) for free. It's generally a better idea to travel as light as you can when you're traveling to so many destinations, but having the cushion of knowing you can check an extra bag (the one that's full of all the goodies you bought on your trip) without paying a huge checked baggage fee is nice.
If you'd like to book a round the world business class ticket on BootsnAll, there are two different ways to do it. You can use the
RTW trip planner and make a note in the comments section that you'd like a quote on a business class fare, or you can use the "Business Class Airfares" link on the Round the World Ticket Deals page (the deals page is the top link under the words "Start TripPlanner here!").
