A night out at the Amsterdam Super Club and a day trip to Volendam.

Weekend Update, May 20-21

I have had an excellent weekend!

Let’s start with Friday night which was a totally amazing night. I had been corresponding with a girl named Dana for quite some time while in the States. I met her Friday night. She is about 6 foot 1, beautiful and blonde. She took Robert and I to a club called “The Amsterdam Super Club”. The Roxy used to be the elite night club here in Amsterdam but it

burned down a year ago and now the Super Club is the hot spot.

Just a brief description of this place…we walked up to this huge brass door in an alley and Dana rang the bell. When the door opened this huge black transvestite standing there in a traditional Japanese robe. I thought to myself “Oh my God, what have I got myself into this time?” but we walked downstairs and low and behold a few rockstars and some Dutch actors were at the bar. I was way out of place with my grey cargo pants and hiking boots but everyone there seemed interested in who I was and what I was doing with Dana.

Robert and I stayed for a short time and when we left I tipped the door “it” and walked outside to see a huge line stretching down the block. People were being turned away just because the door “it” didn’t like the way they looked, and came to find out the ones “it” like were being charged 75 guilders to get in. WOW, not only did I pass the door inspection but I also didn’t pay a dime to get in….my luck here has just been amazing!

On Saturday, Adarynam and I went to Volendam in the north. It is a small fishing village. We walked the streets there and toured the inside of a beautiful Catholic church where I took many photos.

Today is Sunday and not a lot of plans as of yet but it seems like the second I say that something terribly lucky happens to me. I plan on coming back later this year and going to Scotland to stay with my new friend Johnny. He has invited me to his mate’s Scottish wedding complete with kilts and all.

Thus far through my stay I have one major thought. If given the chance to travel abroad take it! Savor every second, record everything, and take pictures to look back on at all the wonderful people and beautiful places. This trip has given me a new sense of self…..really helps bring out your true personality having to fend for yourself in a completely different country and culture.
