In Their Words
Here's what Navid and Anne Yazdani shared about their RTW journey:
Why did you decide to take this trip? What got you into this type of travel, and/or influenced you to go?
Had saved up a ton of vacation time at work that I had to use or lose; wife works at the same place and got unpaid leave of absence for the 2.5 months. We love traveling and we decided to take the opportunity to see parts of the world we’ve never seen.
What is your biggest fear about this trip?
Getting very sick.
What is your advice for people planning their own RTW trip?
Do it.
If you had to sum up your thoughts/feelings about your round-the-world trip in one sentence, what would it be?
Surreal; so strange that I’m sitting in my cube today and traveling to these exotic places in 2 days.
What is the biggest myth that people have about round-the-world traveling?
You can’t do it.
Why do you like to travel?
To see people, places, and cultures that are different than my own.
2026 Context
- Budget inflation: This traveler did not report an original budget; for reference, mid-2000s round-the-world trips commonly ran several thousand US dollars, which would equate to roughly 55-65% more in 2026 purchasing power.
